Professor Alasdair Coles is Professor of Neuroimmunology, Head of the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, University of Cambridge and Co-Director of Cambridge Neuroscience.
He led the development of alemtuzumab as a treatment for multiple sclerosis (MS), from 1994 to its licensing in 2014, being first author on open-label studies and subsequent trial phases. Alasdair has led the Cambridge MS research teams to change focus to strategies to promote remyelination. This coincided with his co-director of the MS Society’s Centre of Excellence, the Cambridge Centre for Myelin Repair (CCMR).
