Celebrating the 170th Oxford and Cambridge Men's Boat Race and the 79th Oxford and Cambridge Women's Boat Race on Wednesday, May 21st, 2025!

You will have the opportunity to see distinguished guest speaker, Rush Rehm, Professor, Theater and Performing Studies, and Classics (Emeritus), Stanford University and Founder and Artistic Director, Stanford Repertory Theater.

The 86th San Francisco Boat Race Dinner celebrates the 170th Oxford and Cambridge Men's Boat Race and the 79th Oxford and Cambridge Women's Boat Race. Taking the form of a College Feast at an Oxbridge College, it is the one occasion each year when the alumni of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge convene for a large-scale event in Northern California. Alumni, students, academic visitors and former employees of either university are invited to attend, along with their spouses, partners and guests. The evening is held in the elegant ambience of the University Club atop Nob Hill in the heart of San Francisco.

Rush Rehm will be the distinguished guest speaker. Actor, director, and professor of Theater and Performance Studies and of Classics at Stanford University, Rush Rehm publishes in the areas of Greek tragedy and contemporary politics. He is also Founder and Artistic Director of Stanford Repertory Theater, a professional theater that presents a dramatic festival and symposium based on a major playwright each summer. He has published over 10 books including Greek Tragic Theatre (1992), Radical Theatre: Greek Tragedy and the Modern World (2013), and Euripides: Electra (2022).

Co-chairs are Matthew Kaser (Linacre, Oxford) and Alex Driskill-Smith (Caius, Cambridge).

Cocktails are at 5:30 pm and dinner will be served at 7:15 pm. The Boat Race video will be played before dinner at 6:15 pm and again after dinner.
