Saturday, June 29, 2024, 11.00am to 3.00pm PDT
Join the Cambridge Alumni of Northern California for an exciting hike in Muir Woods and talk on the Wood Wide Web by Dr Bertie Ansell, (PhD, Oxford), who is a fungal scientist at Stanford University. The group will meet at Memorial Hike Point at 11:00am and walk via the Canopy Trail and Lost Trail to Alice Eastwood Campground, which is where we will have our picnic at 12:30pm. We expect the walk to Alice Eastwood Campground to be 40-50 minutes. After lunch, at 1:30pm, the group will then walk into Muir Woods proper onto Main trail towards the Muir Woods Visitor Center, but we will turn back on Canopy Trail back up to Memorial Hike. Those who prefer a shorter hike can park at Muir Woods Visitor Center (essential to reserve parking near the entrance or a shuttle from Larkspur well in advance). The Visitor Center is about 30 mins walk to Alice Eastwood Campground and 30 minutes back. Those who can't walk, can drive directly to the Alice Eastwood Campground located in Tamalpais State Park, but parking is limited. Link to map. Parking Facilities: Park at Mountain Home Inn Parking Lot or thereabouts on Panoramic Way. We look forward to seeing you for this exciting hike and guided tour!
